Did you know that many people are increasingly turning to acupuncture to bring the body back into balance? Have you tried acupuncture – or – have wanted to try acupuncture for the first time? I am here to explain the basics of acupuncture and get you started down your healing path. So let’s get started!
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is over 5,000 years old, originated in China, and began in 6000 BCE. The practice of acupuncture involves inserting hair-like needles into a variety of points on the body within the body energy meridians. When these acupoints are stimulated this triggers a healing response in the body – essentially acupuncture gives your body the opportunity to heal on its own – this is extraordinary!
Acupuncture balances the body because in Chinese Medicine we see the body as a whole. Let me explain this in more detail; energy within the body needs to follow smoothly, similar to how a river flows smoothly to function properly. Let’s use the river as an example; when a dam blocks the water in the river, then the water can’t flow smoothly and get to where it needs to go, the same thing happens in our bodies. If there is a blockage, then we experience pain, degenerative disease, fatigue, and hormonal imbalance. Acupuncture is amazing because it unblocks the “dams” so the energy within our bodies can flow smoothly for healing and longevity.
A new groundbreaking study published in the American Journal of Emergency Medicine, “Acupuncture vs. intravenous morphine in the management of acute pain the ED”, shows that acupuncture is more effective, with less adverse side effects than intravenous morphine. The reality is acupuncture is very effective for pain but has so many other benefits as well. Health really boils down to one aspect, and that is BALANCE. Acupuncture creates balance!
How can Wisdom of Health assist you on your health journey in creating body balance? Well, the good news is we strongly believe the body is a whole system – without treating the whole system you can not achieve relief — relief, essentially is why you seek out treatment in the first place, right? We want to create relief and overall balance for each of our patients. We provide individualized care and see each one of our patients as unique; each patient is treated differently, based on their own individual needs. Health, longevity, and healthy aging are nestled in the balance. I know I keep pushing balance, but like I’ve stated before, health boils down to … you got it – BALANCE!
